Organization

By providing complete organizations a new way to work together, CourseAvenue takes collaboration to a whole new level. By setting up "sub-organizations", CourseAvenue enables complete distributed enterprise development, but with centralized control. The Organizational Administrator can determine how much freedom to give the subordinate organizations by simply assigning any number of roles and permissions.

Consider these two examples of how to use Organizations:

  1. Widget Co. Inc. has two subsidiary organizations, Aerospace and Research. The parent company wants to share basic company logos, standards, etc. but let Aerospace and Research teams be autonomous, have their own look and feel, and publish to their own individual LMS's. Additionally, the Aerospace group has offices in the far east so the multilingual development module is enabled for them.
  2. Learn Co. is an eLearning development provider and has seen how productive online collaboration with their customers can be. As Learn Co. works with their customers, each customer is created as a subordinate organization. Now Learn Co. can grant their customers access to the courseware library and their own private community.

Contributor

The per authors concept is a thing of the past; it is a relic from the "desktop authoring" world where it was the only way to license legacy products. Everyone who is involved in building the course is a Contributor. Exactly what each Contributor can do is controlled by the Team Manager. Do you want to grant someone "read only" access to review the course? Grant them the Course Reviewer role. Do you want to get input from someone but not let them change the structure of the course? Grant them the Page Editor role.

Course

Do you need to build just 10 courses? You can license CourseAvenue for just that purpose. Do you need to build 1,000 courses in multiple languages and have them syndicated in 5 different learning management systems? CoureseAvenue can do that too. From a few to a few hundred courses, having all your content safely backed up and always available for "anytime, anywhere development and editing", you are much better off than relying your old "C:\My Courses" directory.

Disk Space

Yet another layer of flexibility. Are your courses filled with high-end audio and video or simple text and graphics? We have packages and add-on options to fit your specific needs.

Publishing Environment

How many different ways to you want to publish your course? Do you only need SCORM delivery on one LMS? That is just one publishing environment. Do you need to deploy courses on a variety of LMS's, as a stand-alone series of web pages, and burned onto CD/DVD's? You can add additional publishing environments as you need them.

Mulitlinqual Option

For those who want to support extended ASCII and/or multi-byte character sets, simply add on the multilingual option and you are off and running. By adding your HR Team in Asia as contributors, they can translate your courses into Japanese, Chinese, and Korean, all via the web. And those who do not need multiple languages, they don't pay for it.

Player Skin

CourseAvenue enables customers to dynamically change the branding and overall courseware look and feel at run time. This allows the same content to be served up with completely different logos, color schemes, and navigation elements. We offer source code for player skins and XML configuration mapping. If you need help building a custom Player Skin, just let us know.

SEED Development

SEEDs are a way for you to extend the CourseAvenue Flash framework. We include two basic SEEDs that enable non-programmers to build Flash interactions. You can purchase the SEED development kit and do it yourself or contract with us to build them for you.
